We are excited to announce that our Rental Panasonic AU-EVA1 (EVA1) camera will be arriving at the end of this month or early next month. We are stoked to see how the new camera stacks up against the other cameras in this segment of the market.
The EVA1 offers a great set of features that we think will make it a very competitive camera for both documentary and commercial work, and has some features coming in future updates that will help keep it relevant for the next couple of years at least.
Some of the key camera features we are interested in seeing are:
- 5.7k super-sampled to 4k recording
- Dual native ISO (800 and 2500 base)
- 4k 10-bit 4:2:2 recording on SD cards (up to 30p)
- V-log and V-gammut
- Timecode I/O
- 5.7k RAW output (with future update)
We have tentatively planned an event for November 16th where we take a deeper dive into how the EVA1 compares with the Sony FS5 and FS7 cameras and which one might be best suited for any given job. The event will include a presentation from Rental Manager Keith Mullin, which will be light on Power Point slides, and heavy on Q&A and round table discussion. Keep an eye on the website for more details as they are made available.
