There are so many brands and models of projectors on the market, choosing the right one can be overwhelming. Z Systems has a favorite- Panasonic’s new line of portable LCD laser projectors, the VMZ series. They are bright, high-resolution, compact- and affordable.
Laser versus Lamp – Never Change a Bulb Again
The Panasonic VMZ series of projectors (and the lower-resolution VMW series) are laser-illuminated, which means you will never have to replace the lamp on the projector, and the projector won’t get dim over time.
Three Levels of Brightness to Choose From
There are three VMZ models: The PT-VMZ40 is 4,500 Lumens, and is suitable for rooms with little ambient light. The 5,000 Lumen PT-VMZ50 is going to be a touch brighter and is suitable for room with a some ambient light, particularly when projecting on a smaller screen. The 6,000 Lumen PT-VMZ60 can produce a bright image even in a conference room with the lights on, which makes it our projector of choice for most conference room applications, especially in rooms with exterior windows.
Dynamic Contrast and Daylight View
These projectors feature a high 3,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio for crisp detailed images in shadows, even when bright and dark scenes interchange. Beyond that, the projector also has a feature called ‘daylight view’ which further enhances the detail on dark parts of the image by measuring ambient light levels.
The Bottom Line
There are a lot of laser illuminated, compact projectors on the market, but this line of projectors presents a tremendous value for the money. Panasonic is a reputable brand, and the projectors are warrantied for three years or 2000 hours, whichever comes first. This projector is ideal for many environments, from conference rooms, classrooms, to houses of worship.
