Thrivent
Problem
Thrivent’s media studio in their new headquarters is as beautiful as the building it sits in. Lifted ceilings and a black-box studio makes this modular space available for any idea that comes to mind. But with this studio, Thrivent was running into problems. They didn’t have enough floorspace. With lights, cameras, boom stands, props, camera operators, floor directors and talent, their square footage was inching away. Thrivent needed help upgrading their system to reduce the amount of clutter in the studio, and to find ways to reduce the amount of people needed inside of the studio.
Solution
Thrivent decided to go big and install a top-of-the-line 4K media production suite. It starts with 3 cinema-grade Sony PTZ Cameras. These are incapsulated in a teleprompter hood, and atop a high-quality Ozen tripod. The signal travels through custom tie panels to a Blackmagic Videohub 80×80 router. From all the sources, it finally lands in the new Vizrt Tricaster 2 Elite. This robust system offers a highly flexible and upgradeable media solution that helps the Thrivent media team do more with less people. Furthermore, 7 boom poles and two Aputure key lights were mounted on the ceiling to reduce the amount of floor space needed for production elements. This meant no more tip toeing around cables. It’s another way to make it even easier for talent to come in and create an amazing product.
Aftermath
The system was used following the install for one of their internal
quarterly announcement videos. Because they chose to purchase a gold upgrade package,
Z Systems technicians oversaw the production and were able to assist the
production team for their highly attended livestream. Thrivent had a history of
hiring external contractors to help them with video production. Once the team
got used to the system, they were able to complete these well-produced videos
by themselves, saving money and time.
