“Having somebody like Z Systems installing a system like this really removes a lot of the legwork of doing research and making sure things work together. Because of their years of putting these systems together, they know what works together.”

Overview

Robbinsdale School District serves 10,000 students across the northwest suburbs of Minneapolis. Right across the street from a buzzy school bus repair center stands the district building. Inside was a board room on its last leg. Its conferencing system included a standard definition switcher that had been installed for nearly a decade. Facing occasional dropouts and increased usage from the COVID pandemic, Robbinsdale decided it was time for a change.

Approach

Z Systems decided to overhaul their entire video system and install a Tricaster TC1 switcher. That pairs with 3 Panasonic PTZ cameras that were wall-mounted inside of the boardroom. This allowed for a high-quality stream that can easily record and broadcast the meetings from a control room down the hall. An Atlona control system was installed with multiple touch panels. This allows board members to switch inputs, turn up individual audio sources, and select presets for video presentation. Utilizing a Clickshare CX-30, anyone can easily present from their laptop and have their content shown on one of three TV’s hung around the boardroom.

Results

Robbinsdale has put this system to the test and has loved it. The production side is more powerful than ever, making livestreams a breeze. Everything from video switching and audio control to graphics and archival has become a seamless endeavor. The touch panels have made the room much easier to use, especially for new users. From meetings and interviews to trainings and seminars, this boardroom has been given a new spark of life.

Video Flypack System

Z Systems also designed a mobile video production system for Robbinsdale. They needed a robust solution to record their biannual choir concerts, theatrical performances, and band concerts. Z Systems chose to utilize a Blackmagic ecosystem for it’s affordability and dynamic operation. They shoot events on 3 Ursa 4K cameras that go through Blackmagic camera controllers, an ATEM switcher, and a Hyperdesk recorder.
